Tiro al plato y esgrima coronan cosecha dorada

Mayagu¨ez, Puerto RicoLa República Dominicana cumplió la quinta jornada con ocho medallas, tres de estas fueron doradas para sumar 11, igualando con Puerto Rico en ese metal, al cumplirse la quinta jornada de los 21 Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.

Dos de las medallas de oro fueron aportadas por tiro al plato, la otra fue de esgrima por equipo femenino, mientras que una de plata y tres de bronce provienen de la disciplina de levantamiento de pesas y el otro bronce fue en boliche.

Los dos oros obtenidos por tiro al plato fueron mediante Sergio Piñero, que ganó oro en tiro de fosa individual y por equipo también en fosa. El equipo estuvo integrado por Piñero William Escobar y Eduardo Lorenzo.

La medalla de oro de esgrima fue por equipo en espada femenino. El equipo estuvo integrado por Maybellin Johnson, Melody Martínez, Rossy Feliz e Ysabel Heyddys.

Las dominicanas tuvieron un reñido combate contra Venezuela a la que superaron 45-41 toques.

Venezuela quedó con la de plata y México logró el bronce al superar a Panamá 45-26.

Otra medalla, pero de brone fue aportada por la disciplina de boliche en la modalidad de trío que integraron Víctor Richards, Manino Fernández y Fidel Marchena.

Otros logros importantes fueron las victorias alcanzadas por los equipos de voleibol y baloncesto en la rama femenina, así como el de softbol masculino.

El sexteto dominicano avanzó a la final al vencer a la representación de Trinidad y Tobago en tres corridos (25-23, 25-12, 25-22).

El quinteto de baloncesto femenino se impuso ante Islas Vírgenes por 96-66 y también está en las finales.

Disputará hoy la medalla de oro ante Puerto Rico.
